Coming Back Home
is a waystation for the weary,
for those like myself
wrestling ones,
wandering ones,
hanging on by threads of grace, some days. . .

I am coming back home
to who I really am . . .
the one that was always loved
belonged
cherished
the sparkle in His eye
delightful and accepted in the Beloved;
I am Coming back to this blue print of grace
echoing in all realms
through all ages . . .

Hi, my name is Shayani Ann Turko (nee Fernando);
born in Sri Lanka,
adopted by Canada,
an artist-mom thrust in the messy middle,
of neurodivergence,
of motherhood,
this ordinary life,
lived in grace
on the prairies with her family . . .

It`s been a long rough road
this journey with the living God:
detours, dips, and dungeons,
valleys, mountain-tops, and precipices
narrow ways, and wide, wild fields!
Oh but always held, boundaried, guided
in all seasons. . .
by Presence so near;

Bought back by Blood
washed by water
sealed by Spirit
I am free; Born-again!
Truth revealed; the path made plain
pointing to my way back home again.

This is a quiet place on the internet
where the chaos, and controversy
that’s hustling for our attention and affection,
are kept at bay
by the practice of the everyday Presence of Jesus.

Here, we intentionally return to His gaze,
rest in Him through the grief and glory of our days,
keep each other company
with words,
worlds
and ways
that are
honest and compassionate
grounded and good
just like our Father.

As we rest here,
we recover weathered faith, hope, love and laughter;
reclaim relinquished names, and birthrights;
then, we rise again,
for that
call back home
that deep crying out to Deep
beckon us on . . .

And as we part our ways, my prayer is this:
may you both rest and run
a little lighter
a little freer
courageous and kind
settled in His love
and in His Presence like fire, be undone.

I’d love to keep in touch with you by sending you a note with encouragement and updates gathered in that month in one place. Subscribe for free!

Flourish

Flourishing against all odds
is the
ultimate act of defiance.
- The Holy Spirit -

This space is for the desperate.

Not desperate for more noise,
more content,
or another spiritual opinion.

Desperate to live rooted
in the Presence of Jesus when chaos is loud.

Desperate for lasting change.

Desperate to live in the reality of dominion
destined for the Sons of God.

If you want to run hard for the Lord,
you must invest in rest.

Repentance is a change of mind that requires a lifestyle change — one where rest is habitual, not incidental or occasional.

This is the Isaiah 30:15 wisdom of the LORD our God
for those who desire longevity and legacy.

Rest is the foundation of the Kingdom of God.

It is knowing God in hiddenness
before doing exploits with Him in public.

Flourish is not a casual space.
It is a threshold.

We guard our vulnerability, our focus, our intentionality, and the deposit of Christ’s hard-won peace in this member-supported space.

Practicing the Presence is non-negotiable in the coming days.

In His Presence, Christ’s supernatural peace is given to us.

This peace
counters mental chaos,
reorients our gaze,
re-centers our souls,
stabilizes our minds,
strengthens our resolve
to both rest and run with the Holy Spirit
to accomplish what is written on our scrolls.

Practicing the Presence together gives us the encouragement, support, and accountability to carry His Presence into the ordinary rhythms of our lives.

This is not content for casual consumption.
This is a rhythm for formation.

When you join Flourish, you’ll receive:

  • a monthly check-in with encouragement, teachings, and prompts on how to practice the Presence of Jesus through the Written Word, silence, art, and other ways;

  • invitations to join our monthly facilitated chats on Substack — a safe and accountable space to actively engage with the Holy Spirit;

  • first access to original paintings and selected studio releases, preferred pricing on new artwork and giclée prints, and studio updates.

He is teaching us
how to walk in the peace of His everyday Presence,
to push back against spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, and social chaos,
and quietly and confidently establish His Kingdom
as sons of God.

Rebuilding peace is how we exit survival mode.

But peace is more than an aesthetic, a vibe, or a self-care routine.

Peace requires partnership:
our active attention,
our agreement,
and our follow-through.

It is a choice to remain rooted in truth,
receive the wisdom of the Great Architect,
and act on what He reveals.

Peace is practical.

The invitation is open, but it is not casual.

If you are ready to slow down, listen more closely, and practice the Presence of Jesus in everyday life, we invite you to join us in Flourish.

Come if you are ready to practice the Presence of Jesus as warfare against everything that defies God’s desire for you, His child, to prosper, conquer, and walk in dominion on the earth.

If you are desperate, then you are ready.
